I'M SEEING STARS...ALL-STARS!: RHP Bobby Brownlie, OF Mike Daniel and RHP Jordan Zimmermann were selected to play for the Southern Division squad in the Double-A Eastern League All-Star Game being played July 16 at Stadium, home of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays)...Brownlie, signed by Washington as a minor-league free agent in the off-season, is 6-0 with a 3.33 ERA in 9 starts with Harrisburg...Daniel, a 7th-round pick from the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, earns his third consecutive All-Star selection, after hitting .302 with 8 home runs, 37 RBI and 13 steals in 78 addition to this season's selection, the 23-year-old was a 2007 Single-A South Atlantic League All-Star and earned Short-Season Single-A New York-Penn League All-Star honors in 2006...Zimmermann, 22, has allowed 3 earned runs or less in 8 of his 10 starts with the Senators...before his May 4 promotion to Harrisburg, he dominated the Single-A Carolina League, going 3-1 with a 1.65 ERA (5 ER/27.1 IP) in 5 games (4 starts) with the P-Nats...Zimmermann, whom the Nationals selected in the 2nd round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, is a combined 5-3 with a 3.40 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) with Harrisburg and Potomac.

ARE YOU MOCKING ME?: RHP Garrett Mock struck out 7 in 7.0 innings of one-run ball to earn the win on Tuesday vs. Toledo (Tigers)...he has allowed 3 earned runs or less in 13 of 14 Triple-A starts this season...the 25-year-old is 3-0 with a 2.28 ERA (9 ER/39.1 IP) in his last 6 starts at the Triple-A level...Mock, who made his big league debut on June 8 vs. San Francisco, has made 2 spot starts with Washington...he was acquired from Arizona with LHP Matt Chico in exchange for RHP Livan Hernandez, August 7, 2006.

START ME UP!: RHP Marco Estrada fired 6.0 shutout innings to earn the win Saturday vs. Indianapolis (Pirates)...the Long Beach State University product is 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA (7 ER/18.0 IP) in his first 3 Triple-A starting assignments...Estrada, 24, was promoted to Columbus June 16, after going 6-3 with a 2.66 ERA (22 ER/74.1 IP) in 13 starts with Harrisburg...overall, he is a combined 8-4 with a 2.83 ERA in 16 starts with Columbus and Harrisburg...Estrada is scheduled to make his next start tonight vs. Toledo.

Organizational Player and Pitcher of the Month - June

INF Larry Broadway - batted .348 (32-for-92) with 6 doubles, 4 homers and 16 RBI in 26 games.

RHP Collin Balester - went 4-0 with a 2.82 ERA (7 ER/22.0 IP) in 4 starts.

BRAVEHART: INF Bill Rhinehart has had no trouble adjusting to Double-A pitching since being promoted to Harrisburg on June 3 games with the Senators, the 23-year-old has gone 4-for-11 (.364) with a double and 6 RBI...Rhinehart has rocketed through the Nationals' system this year...he began the season with Single-A Hagerstown, where he batted .295 (77-for-261) with 22 doubles, 9 home runs, 56 RBI and a .490 slugging percentage in 65 games...he was a South Atlantic League All-Star, and was named the game's MVP after a 3-for-3 performance with a homer and 3 RBI...he played in just 7 games with Potomac, where hit .320 (8-for-25) with 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 4 RBI to earn the promotion to Double-A...Rhinehart was selected in the 11th round of the 2007 Draft out of the University of Arizona.

A LITTLE PIECE OF DEVIN: C Devin Ivany has been nothing short of spectacular during his last 9 games (last 11 team games), batting .391 (9-for-23) with 4 homers and 6 RBI...his home run total is tops on the team over that period, as are his 8 runs...Ivany went 13-for-42 (.310) with 4 homers and 6 RBI in 15 games during June...he hit .302 (16-for-53) against righties, compared to just .189 (7-37) against Southpaws...defensively, he's thrown out 10 of 25 (40 percent) attempted basestealers...Ivany was selected in the 6th round of the 2004 Draft out of the University of South Florida.

OF Mike Daniel - in 27 games, hit .284 (27-for-95) with 4 home runs and 17 RBI.

NO SOUP FOR YOU!: RHP Josh Wilkie extended his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 16.0, after tossing another shutout frame on Tuesday at Kinston (Indians)...the 23-year-old George Washington University product has allowed just one run over 29.1 innings pitched for a miniscule 0.30 ERA in his last 20 appearances...overall, the Carolina League All-Star has no record, but has recorded 2 saves and owns a 0.95 ERA in 27 games...Wilkie was signed by Washington as a non-drafted free agent in June 2006.

FRANCISCO TREAT: One of Potomac's hottest hitters of late has been 24-year-old OF Francisco Plasencia, who has batted .329 with 18 doubles, 4 home runs and 18 RBI in 45 games with the P-Nats...promoted from Hagerstown in early May, Plasencia played well in the month of May (.267, 3 2B, 2 RBI in 15g) before catching fire in June, batting at a .367 (33-for-90) clip with 13 doubles, 4 home runs and 14 RBI in 28 games...the left-handed batter has excelled against right-handed pitching, going 42-for-122 (.344, 4 HR, 17 RBI) a combined 64 games with Potomac and Hagerstown, he has hit .311 (71-for-228) with 28 doubles, 6 home runs and 24 RBI...signed as a minor league free agent in December 2004, this marks the Venezuela native's 4th season in the Nationals organization and his 7th season of pro ball.

THIS JUSTIN: LHP Justin Jones allowed one run and 5 hits in 5.1 innings to earn the win on Tuesday at Kinston...Jones, selected from Minnesota in the 2006 Minor League Rule 5 Draft, has won each of his last 3 starts...after suffering a knee injury in the off-season, the 23-year-old spent the first half of the season rehabbing in Viera, FL...since returning, Jones has begun his ascent through the Nationals' system, going a combined 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA in 6 starts with Potomac and Hagerstown.

INF Leonard Davis - hit .407 (37-for-91) with 28 runs scored, 6 home runs and 16 RBI in 28 games.

THE TOTAL PACKAGE: OF Michael Burgess has been dominating the South Atlantic League both defensively and offensively...the 19-year-old leads all of professional baseball with 20 outfield assists...his 15 home runs are tied with Leonard Davis (HAR) for tops among Washington farmhands and are tied for 2nd in the his last 23 games, Burgess is 24-for-75 (.320) with 15 runs scored, 10 doubles, 3 homers and 12 RBI...Burgess, selected 47th overall in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, entered the season rated as the No. 4 prospect and second-best hitting prospect (behind only Chris Marrero) in the Washington chain according to Baseball America.

LEATHER PANTS: RHP Dan Leatherman is 1-0 with a save and a 1.40 ERA in 9 appearances 19.1 innings, he has struck out 24 and walked 2 (12.0/1 strikeout-to-walk ratio)...he has allowed just one run over 15.1 innings (0.59 ERA) in his last 7 appearances.

Organizational Player and Pitcher of the Month - June

C Sean Rooney - batted .365 (23-for-63) with 13 RBI and a .412 OBP in 17 games.
RHP Kyle Gunderson - went 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA (2 ER/12.1 IP) in 8 games...was 3-for-3 in save chances.

DEAN'S LIST: RHP P.J. Dean allowed one hit in 6.0 shutout innings to earn the win last night at State College (Pirates)...he is 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA through his first 3 starts of the season...Dean was selected in the 7th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.

PICKING UP SOME HARDWARE: INF Steve Souza was named's New York-Penn League Player of the Week for the period of June 23-29...he hit .368 (7-for-19) with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 4 homers and 7 RBI to garner the selection...Souza, 19, became the first NYPL player this season to record a multi-homer game after doing so June 26 vs. Lowell (Red Sox).

Gulf Coast League Nationals

SMILEY FACE: INF Smiley Gonzalez has posted multi-hit and multi-RBI efforts in 4 of 7 games to begin the season...overall, he is batting .452 with 10 runs scored, 4 doubles a triple and a 11 RBI...he is 6-for-10 (.600) with 11 RBI with RISP...the 18-year-old signed with the Nationals as a non-drafted free agent July 2, 2006.

PAUL THE PITCHER: In his first 2 appearances as a pro, RHP Paul Demny has struck out 9 and not walked a batter in 5.0 innings of one-run ball (1.80 ERA)...Demny was selected in the 6th round of the 2008 draft out of Blinn College (TX).
