Since You Asked...

First, Dave will have a chat Wednesday at 2 p.m., assuming nothing is breaking at that time in Vegas. Boz will be in his usual Friday-at-3 spot.

Second, while I'd love to have two people in Vegas, I don't. Dave will be a busy bee and undoubtedly earn that $30 breakfast.

Finally, since several of you have asked, Chico is out of the country working on a non-Nats story. He'll be back next week, rarin' to go, and I'll have him check in on Dmitri, Wily Mo and the rest of the Fun Bunch while I leave town for a few weeks for vacation.

And that's probably more than you want to know about the inner workings on Nationals Journal.

Tracee, you're funny for sure... "Fun Bunch" well I guest that's better than let's say, " Not ready for prime time players.", eh...

Please keep it up and have a great Vacation..

Seriously? A non-Nats story, from a Nats beat writer? Are you phasing him out?

I'm not impressed.

I think Chico is covering the India v England cricket matches this week ...

NatsNut, last summer the Post sent El-Bashir, the Caps' beat writer, off to cover NASCAR after the Caps season was done. No NHL playoff coverage, no covering the Caps' players in the World Championships.

So it's no surprise the Post would send Nats' beat reporter somewhere else.

It's nearly impossible to have too much information in the NJ - keep up the great work!

The issue is *when* during the offseason the Post is sending the Nats beat writer to cover some other story. The Winter Meetings are the most significant off-season event for baseball. If Chico isn't going to be assigned to cover something like this, then I don't see how he can establish the kind of rapport with the Nats' management that a good beat writer needs to have. Witness Sheinin's sit-down with Bowden later today, as well as his meeting with Kasten a couple weeks ago. These are things that the beat writer should be doing--if the Post took the beat seriously. But I guess we know the answer to that already...

The Post not sending their Nats beat writer is pretty lame. I am sure Boswell is there though as he is supposed to be the baseball guru :)
