Bowden Resigns
Jim Bowden resigned this morning as Washington Nationals general manager. The team has not yet named a successor, even on an interim basis.
Bowden said, "It is an emotional decision that saddens me, but one that I feel is in the best interests of the two things I love most -- baseball and the Washington Nationals."
More to come.

GOOD RIDDANCE!
Now perhaps the Nationals can actually be run by a guy with 1) a baseball brain and 2) some class and decency.
It's amazing Bowden lasted this long.

I am glad Bowden did the classy thing and bowed out. Good luck JimBo.

Bowden did some good things but he was more like a purveyor of a regional carnival or minor league pro wrestling circuit.
Rizzo will be GM and he'll do a good job.
However, the Lerners's financial commitment to the Nats is what will drive success or failure.

About freekin' time. How the heck can you build a contender with this circus going on plus Bowden has always built losers. Guys like Pat Gillick may make some mistakes but mostly end up on the positive side (re: 3 World Series Champions and plenty of playoff teams). Hopefully they'll get a good baseball man in there soon to run the Nats. They should try and get Mike Arbuckle. "The Philadelphia Phillies are 2008 World Champions of Baseball!!!" Go Nats!!

Just saw it on News4 this morning - I hate to see anyone lose their job, but it's really for best. Let's play ball!
