Through Three Innings At HSCS
Though three innings, we've got a 1-1 game. Among the highlights --
* The in the second, singles by Josh Willingham and Javier Valentin helped the Nats to their first run.
* The Marlins, against lefty Scott Olsen, tied things up in the third. CF Lastings Milledge couldn't track down a fly ball to deep LCF by Florida pitcher Josh Johnson, and the next batter, 2B Emilio Bonifacio, swatted a gimme double down the RF line.
Cody Ross hit a high pop up to shallow left -- actually, it was just a few yards beyond the infield grass -- and shortstop Daniel Espinosa camped under it. That's not the kind of ball you tag up on. Unless you're Bonifacio. He bolted. Espinosa, clearly, was surprised, and waited a half-beat before even realizing what was happening. He took a shuffle step and threw home, with the throw tailing a few a foot or two wide to the first base side.
Still, Bonifacio was out. A close play, but 6-2. Inning over.
* Florida, thanks to a two-out double in the fourth by Robert Andino, just took a 2-1 lead.
Quick, someone summon Brad Eldred from the bench to tie things back up.

I read that just as AK came up. Perhaps he won't strike out on an inside pitch under the hands again.
Oh. As I was writing that, that ws exactly what he did. Yet again.

Olsen may suck, but at least he's supposedly healthy.
Continuing my rant against the shortsighted move in releasing in Hill....
