Opening Day Lineups

Still no word on the first pitch. I will say this: I started to have some doubts three days ago, when the Nats issued a "get there early!" press release. That's always a sign something is up. I also was bothered that they wouldn't announce who WAS throwing out the pitch. Most teams announce it in advance. The Mets announced last week it would be Seaver, for instance. And then Kasten's quote yesterday in Nats Journal ...

So we'll see. As soon as we know, we'll post something.

More importantly, just got a release saying Anderson Hernandez comes off the disabled list and Willie Harris goes on (oblique strain, 15 day).

Meantime, here's a Going Out Guru guide to where to eat and drink near Nats Park.

And now, here are the lineups:

Phillies:
Rollins - SS
Victorino - CF
Utley - 2B
Howard - 1B
Werth - RF
Ibanez - LF
Feliz - 3B
Coste - C
Moyer - P

Nationals:
Milledge - CF
Guzman - SS
Zimmerman - 3B
Dunn - LF
Dukes - RF
Johnson - 1B
Flores - C
Hernandez - 2B
Cabrera - P

I'm surprised to see Hernandez in the lineup already. I figured AG would start, w/ Hernandez in the dugout in case AG got hurt.

I love having Guz-Zimm-Dunn-Dukes-Johnson batting one after the other. Flores has been swinging the bat well, too.

I believe our bats are going to pound Jamie Moyer.
Today is Victory Number One.

Apparently Acta doesn't love the Former Attorney General as much as Rizzo.

Nice to see Dukes in the line-up. That 3-4-5-6 looks not unlike a major league line-up.

the deep counts have been good lately; let's not jump at the junk; let the old man tire out a bit.

So is this the right time to complain about the season tickets? The opening day tickets are pretty nice - I think they are bulletproof. But the normal tickets do not, for the most part, have pictures of players, but instead of random "fans" and surly Nat Packers. Was this done because nobody in the front office had any idea who would be on the roster by June?

And speaking of surly employees of the Nationals, what is it with the grounds crew? Those guys are d*cks. When people with tickets come to sit in their seats down on the front concourse, they grumble and moan like it is a nuisance to get up out of seats that fans paid for. And they talk loudly and crudely even when small children are around. Those guys p*ss me off.

I would totally complain about that, write to the team or something, you can't control fans being crude but the team should be able to control employees.

Just went to lunch in china town. It doesn't seem to matter that there is no resturants near the stadium because C-town is loaded with opening day fans. so, dc still gets tax revenue, just not in Southeast.

Why is Zimmerman still batting 3rd? He should be hitting 6 or 7. Dukes or Johnson should be hitting 3.
