Colome Exits With Injury

[UPDATE, 10:24 p.m.] -- Colome left the game with a right quad strain. He is being listed as day-to-day.

---

Here in the top of the 11th, where our game is tied at 3, relief pitcher Jesus Colome was pulled from the game with apparent injury, though it's hard to discern what happened based on the view from afar. Colome threw a high fastball, walking Adam Lind, and was visited on the mound by trainer Lee Kuntz.

The reliever then exited the game, and was replaced by Julian Tavarez.

I'll update once we find out more.

I'm with BG. And because I don't think anyone has covered it yet ... it didn't appear to be Colome's buttocks.

Willie Harris hits a walk-off two-run shot.

He also has solved the health-care crisis and caused North Korea to give up its nukes.

An all-around player.

Lets go for the sweep!

WILLIE...nothing wee about this Willie. Defense, offense, it makes no sense to sit this Willie everrrrrr.

Posted by: cokedispatch | June 20, 2009 10:53 PM | Report abuse

Hey Manny, I think we have a CF. Leave him in there and stop the expemination in the outfield.

Posted by: JT2009 | June 20, 2009 10:54 PM | Report abuse

This is fun. One more win and we're on fire when the chowder f*cks get here.

Posted by: Kev29 | June 20, 2009 10:54 PM | Report abuse

I don't see any reason to start anyone else in CF this season. Willie gets it done.

Posted by: Naugatuck-Nats | June 20, 2009 10:55 PM | Report abuse

Manny's talking about Willie understanding his role, and his average not being where he wants it to be.

Uh, Manny, play him every day in CF and then let's see what happens with that average.

Posted by: shepdave2003 | June 20, 2009 10:57 PM | Report abuse

I think Willie's play this week has made a strong statement that he belongs out there regularly. He adds stability in the field, providing young pitchers with more confidence, and brings the energy to the plate and basepaths.

If he gets back on track at the plate (last year he came on in June and second half with more at-bats), the team plays much better with a real CF out there.

DFA Kearns, get Gonzalez some more ABs, and hopefully get Zimm back on track! Nice win -- gotta learn how to do this in regulation instead of burning through the bullpen. Just imagine if Detwiler didn't go so deep into the game...

SWEEEEEEEEEEEP! SWEEET!

Roger that shepdave2003.

Willie has definitely earn the right to be the eveyday CF for at least the near future.

Posted by: chris88 | June 20, 2009 11:14 PM | Report abuse

Number 2 son and I are there for the game tomorrow. Too bad the oldest can't be there, but he's in California with the wife. All 3 of us will be there for the Braves series. They don't know how lucky they are living within driving distance of 2 major league parks. I didn't see my 2nd major league game until I was almost 30. Hopefully they'll see the Nats in the playoffs before they're that old.

Day 4 of Operation Save Manny = SUCCESS!

Posted by: MrMadison | June 20, 2009 11:29 PM | Report abuse

I really feel that when a guy is hot, (Willie), you have to play him. Regardless of whether a LHP or RHP starts for the other club. I've always thought that Willie was very valuable as a utility/bench player, who can play just about any position. However, in light of his recent performance, he needs to get in the line-up everyday at center field. At least for the near future.

GO NATS! Sweep tomorrow!

WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Willie Harris gits R *all* done tonight!
