Gonzo in the 4 hole, interesting...

Technically he's in the six hole, playing second base. Just sayin

Just wanted to acknowledge Boz replying to a question about why someone else, probably Detwiler, gets sent down when Olsen comes back. Boz got newposted, but for those with that question, go to the end of "They won again" a couple of posts back.

Easy on the Wayne Comer references leetee. I'll have to get the whole fan club together and move to have your posting privileges revoked!

You mean BOTH of you?

Not a bad lineup for the Nats (mainly because AK is not in it). I think we can pull another one off tonight, and the weather will cooperate, as it should be a beautiful evening at the ballpark. I'll be home cooking out and drinking, but I'll be watching! Apparently, the fake umps are supposed to be back tonight. Stan loves them because they paid full price for those seats and are a distraction from the team's poor overall performance for the season. I actually thought they were pretty funny, so I'm looking forward to seeing them again.

That's not the way it works DCguy7. Gonzalez is hitting 6th... the sixth batter in the posted order. The number 4 refers to his defensive position on the field... i.e. 1 is for pitcher, 2 is for catcher, and so on around the field.

ANYBODY but belliard in the field, please.

Yeah I thought the umps were pretty funny. Seemed like harmless clowning to me. However i don't think it would be the worst thing if someone went "philly fan" and roughed them up a little (yeah like THAT would happen in the $300 seats). How's that for straddling the fence???

A couple of more thoughts on Willie as the every day CF.

Last year, Willie through the end of June had nearly the same average as he has today. For the first 3 months of last year, he hit .221 (23 for 104). Biggest difference is he has had a cold June instead of a hot June. His OBP is right around what he did last year (.341 in '09 v. .344 for the year in '08). His power is down, but you don't play Willie for homers. The team is much better defensively with him in it.

Probably the best defensive, late inning line up has Kearns in right, Willie in center, and Dukes in left. Usually that will mean 2 defensive subs, which is a bit much. However, a Dunn replacement late, or a Willingham replacement when he is in RF, might be a good move when we have a lead.
