Thursday Afternoon Tidbits

While we're waiting for the rain to stop in New York, here are a couple of items to chew on.

The Nationals will offer two new food options soon soon. From the news release:

The Washington Nationals will introduce two new concession stands at Nationals Park during the upcoming homestand beginning on Friday, June 19 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. The team will debut a Carolina-style barbeque option at Teddy's Barbeque, located adjacent to the Nats Family Fun Area on Friday evening. The Kosher Grill, operated by Max's Kosher Cafe, will open on Sunday, June 21, on the Main Concourse behind Section 143.

Also this weekend, the team will do something for dads.

The Washington Nationals have invited approximately 150 people to take part in a Father's Day Catch on the field at Nationals Park following Sunday's 1:35pm game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. Nationals Season Ticket Holders, community partners, foundation supporters and corporate partners were given the opportunity to participate in the outfield catch and create a Father's Day memory unlike any other. The 30-minute catch will take place following Kids Run the Bases.
Fans may enter to win the opportunity to take part in the catch at Nationals Park during Friday & Saturday's games vs. Toronto at entry boxes located on the Main Concourse - behind Section 102, at the Ticket Sales Kiosk in the Center Field Plaza, next to the Team Store located behind home plate, and near the Ticket Services Window down the first baseline - and on the 300 level behind Section 312. Additional opportunities to participate will be offered through Teddy's Facebook page and twitter account.

that was the quickest new post ever. Good thing, because I had a typo. In response to Cico's post...

wow, what a contrast to what happens in Natstown. Is there someone there taking notes?

"The Washington Nationals have invited approximately 150 people to take part in a Father's Day Catch..."

Uh-oh. That sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Just saw the horror that is today's lineups. And now I'm back off the fence to fire Manny. Kearns *must* be benched. Short of that he must be hit no higher than 7th in the order.

Playing Belliard over Gonzalez is a criminal act.

"a Carolina-style barbeque option"

meaning?

there are two kinds of north carolina bbq - red sauce (western), or vinegar-based (eastern)

there is also south carolina (mustard-based - my favorite!), but somehow I don't think they are referring to that.

the main ingredients: smoke and pork, I also fear may not be combined correctly.

I have no idea what this means.

"Hey, Maybe Alexa Can Get Together With Jaybeee--They Almost Balance Out..."

Reminds me of an amusing 419 quip when Coverage is Lacking first showed up. After one of the first angry posts he said something to the effect of:

"Are you a chick? Given your posting style and your name I think we could get along well"

That's funny for a few reasons, 506!
