Lineups From Nats Park

The Brewers are hitting P Manny Parra in the No. 8 slot. Also, the Nats scratched Elijah Dukes, who was originally slated to bat seventh and start in RF. Dukes, mired in a 4-for-35 slump since Aug. 11, spent Saturday in the batting cages. He swung and swung and swung... and came away with a sore left thumb. The irritation will keep him out of the lineup at least for today.

Milwaukee

Lopez - 4
Counsell - 5
Braun - 7
Fielder - 3
Cameron - 8
Catalanatto - 9
Rivera - 2
Parra - 1
Escobar - 6

Washington

Morgan - 8
Guzman - 6
Zimmerman - 5
Dunn - 3
Willingham - 7
Belliard - 4
Bard - 2
Morse - 9
Stammen - 1

I initially had Morse at 1B, but with the Dukes scratch, this lineup isn't bad.

Go Nats!

Chuck Merriweather should be calling balls and strikes today, so it'll be interesting to see how his calls go. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and maybe last night was just a bad night, but I'll be ticked if we get screwed like we did yesterday.

Anyone know why Chico (or anyone else from the WP) is not featured on Nats Xtra? What's stopping the Ad Department from working out a deal with the Nats?

@joemktg1: Just a guess on my part: Chico (at least corporately speaking) is linked to WashingtonPostLive on Comcast Sports Net. That's a direct rival to MASN, which carries the Nats Xtra. I don't ever recall seeing a Postie on that show, although obviously they use people from the Moonie Paper.

Small ball! Hallelujah! Way to go, Riggs! Way to go, Morse! Way to go, Tony Plush.
It's a new day in Washington. A suicide squeeze. Wonder what Manny thinks?

@joemktg1

jd is CORRECT! The Post cast its lot with COMCAST, while MASN is allied with the Times and, apparently, never the twain shall meet.

and MASN always has a writer who actually covers the team on to talk about the nats.

What a difference a day makes. The NATS score 16 runs in two days! The difference is Stammen. I see a revamping of the rotation come September.

@ehardwick: What's your view of the rotation? Is Lannon hurt? I'd like to see your rotation for September of this year and September of 2010. Lots of changes coming, for sure. FO (Rizzo) needs to dip into FA pool for at least one veteran starter, and maybe another reliever.

@jd50 & ehardwick: Allow me step into this & say that Martis & Detwiler will most likely get a September recall; Atilano might get a callup as well. Balester, & maybe Stammen could get shut-down in September, based on IP.

Bang-Zoom go the fireworks - Stammen plays the "stopper" role, and another curly W goes into the book.

After Last night, it looks like Lannan should be shut down as well.

Thanks, BinM, for your insights. Nats are 18-and-19 under Riggs. Let's get to .500 tomorrow in the matinee! Ah, mediocrity. Ain't it grand?

Lannan does appear to be done but I think he will get one more start. Martis got killed last night. Atiltano has been lights out as a relieve and do not forget Storen. Bret Meyes is 3-0 at Harrisburg. Lots of choices.

That would be Meyers.
