I knew you'd like that, Nats_Lady.

The hot hand batting in the six-hole before Dukes. The troglodyte troll, that gargoyle Ronnie Belliard.

Count me in the ilk that would welcome Brad Penny to town. Heck, with the injuries to Olsen and ZNN, I'd take Penny and Livo, as long as they signed reasonable short-term deals. If the young guys step up and beat them out, fine, but we already know ZNN and probably Strasburg won't be in the rotation to start next season, and Lannan is really the only starter that can be counted on. Randy Wolf would also fit well.

I think I agree with BobLHead. Penny would be worth a shot, if he's interested. The Nats need to throw some numbers at the rotation problem.

Meanwhile, let's get this one in. Day baseball is a good thing...

Nice article from Tracee about Storen. It would be SO nice to have an ace starter and a great closer (with due respect to Lannan and the long noodle--who is doing good, keep it up MacD.)

Nieves did an excellent job and IMO deserves increased playing time behind the dish!

Dunn's career average for HRs at Wrigley puts today as the day for him!

Belliard in the 6 spot!

60's and misting in the windy city? I'm fine to let T. Plush rest another day if he's not 100% over the flu.

And if some jerk pours beer on him, all hell is gonna break loose.

Yeah. Remember WE have the nukes and Obama is NOT a Cubs fan.

And if some jerk pours beer on him, all hell is gonna break loose.

Time to head over to the Cubby Bear for some jello shots before the game. Who's with me?

"Why do we have such lousy luck with pitchers? Seriously, I'd love one of the stats guys to run a comparison against "average" for injuries and DFA's. Is it training, drafting, coaching, bringing them up too soon? Can't ALL be bad luck.

Posted by: Nats_Lady | August 27, 2009"

@Nats_lady ... most were basically rookies ... well they were rookies for the most part. That's to be expected when your pitching staff other than Lannan and Olsen is made up of a few of surly_w's AAAA retreads and rookie prospects.

The real only bonafide starter is Livan Hernandez.

It requires some patience along with the right mix of veterans and "prospects"/rookies. It sounds like that is where Rizzo is going from here on out.

Brad Penny? Be nice to get someone under 30 ... other than Livan, now that Livan is onboard.

perc: I hope so. Because we do not want to blow out the young arms coming up. Hope the vets have goood advice.
