Zimmermann to Have Tommy John Surgery
Nationals acting general manager Mike Rizzo has confirmed to Post columnist Thomas Boswell that rookie right-hander Jordan Zimmermann will need ligament-replacement surgery on his elbow. Zimmermann had an MRI exam on Friday with noted orthopedist James Andrews. Zimmermann was 3-5 with a 4.63 ERA in 16 starts this season, last pitching on July 18.

Football player get hurt less.
It doesn't change my desire to sign Strasburg. Fans don't have to be reasonable.

Yikes...this is not good news. This really throws a wrinkle into managing all of the young starters innings. with the exception of Lannen, most of the pitchers were going to hit their inning ceiling this month. I think our rotation might be:
Lannen, Balester, Martis, Mock and ??? in a couple of weeks.

Wow. I'm glad I saw some of his 2009 outings. That could be all I see of the kid.
Punch in the gut. Air knocked out. Whew.
