Rain Delay At Land Shark Stadium
[UPDATE, 8:13 p.m.] -- Estimated start time, 8:45 p.m.
---
[UPDATE, 8:09 p.m.] -- The rain has tapered, and the tarp is coming off. There has been no announced start time yet, but I imagine we'll see a first before before 9 p.m.
---
[UPDATE, 7:20 p.m.] -- Still pouring. The Marlins have yet to say a word about whether this game will be played tonight.
---
This is Florida. It rains here. And it's raining now. The tarp is on the field. A passing system is overhead, dumping a steady rain on Miami Gardens, Fla. Looking at the radar, this shouldn't last more than another hour. But that is just my guess. There's been no official word about a start time. Stay tuned.

I am looking at the radar, too. I don't see how they get this game in. There's another big blob behind the current one

Is Estrada auditioning for the role formerly held by Daniel Cabrera?

Ha ha. Maxwell got one.

Oh, I'm heading to the basement and diving under 14 layers of mattresses. The Justin Maxwell for President movement has just erupted. This board will be insufferable until around mid-March, I fear.

Estrada was up last year, wasn't he?

Zim is SO MUCH fun to watch!

@Nats_Lady: Yes, and he was lousy then too. Kinda reminds me of a Saul Rivera. Without the stuff.

Desmond is really making me think of this:
Desmond - 6
Guzman - 4
Zimm - 5
Dunn - 3
Not a bad top of the order. Not a bad infield.

Til Nyjer gets back.

How did I forget about him? Too much Maalox and bourbon, too early.

Speaking of Rivera, looks like he's warming up in the pen.

this marco estrada guy really sucks..

Oh, now we switch to the real Saul Rivera.
I see very, very little difference...a crocodile/alligator-type situation. Separated at birth.

Det on to mop up. Finally, somebody who has a chance to be on the 2010 staff.

Yeah? And he walks the pitcher????
Posted by: Nats_Lady | September 12, 2009 10:10 PM | Report abuse
OK, Det, the walk is forgiven. So far, so good.

I still think we can get to this Gas Can, Sanchez, who pitches like Bob Gibson against us.

Why is this guy not DFA'd?
Posted by: Nats_Lady | September 12, 2009 10:55 PM | Report abuse
Why is Logan Kensing still on the mound after back-to-back HRs? Why was he called up from Syracuse? Why is he still in the Nats system? Can today please, please be the day he gets his walking papers?!
I know it was 6-2, but still how many different times do you have to see his inability to pitch at the MLB level before you give up on the bum?

Dribble is singing! Can it get any worse?
Posted by: Nats_Lady | September 12, 2009 11:47 PM | Report abuse
Take a look at the ERAs of today's pitchers. It's sick.
Posted by: Nats_Lady | September 12, 2009 11:52 PM | Report abuse
Kensing must look like Nolan Ryan in the bullpen. Otherwise, why does he keep getting sent out there to get pounded? I'm as willing as any other Nats fan to take lumps, but this is pathetic. Get him out here!

And please play Desmond (at 2B if you have to) until he stops hitting, which I hope isn't this season. Let's win 60, at least.

I guess that means no chance for an old fashioned Sunday DH?
