ESPN Will Show Footage of Strasburg Debut
This afternoon, Stephen Strasburg will make his first pro outing against the Tigers in the Florida Instructional League. And ESPN is planning to broadcast some "live cut-ins" of the action during its 1 p.m. SportsCenter program. The Post's Amy Shipley is also on site, so you'll get a full recap at some later point. Hopefully The Onion has a reporter on hand, too. Perhaps Strasburg can treat all the reporters to lunch at Panera Bread after the game.

OK, a little early, but remind me when we get to a good spot:
Pool on when Strasburg gets his first shaving cream pie -- pick the date.

I can almost ( but not quite ) understand why hardcore nats fans would care at all about this, but this level of hype is really just annoying.
Has he struck out a major league batter yet? Has he worked out of a jam in the 7th inning of a day game at Wrigley? Has he resumed a 1-1 game after a 49 minute rain delay in late September? Has he had a three really bad outings and come back to be stellar against a top tier team?
He may well have the steel, but I don't believe he has come anywhere close to earning this level of attention yet. I kinda think his agent had something to do with it, but that's just me.

ESPN just went on with a live feed of Strasburg walking into the dugout. Fascinating! Scintillating! Next up: Strasburg sitting in the dugout. Can't wait for Strasburg to take a drink of Gatorade...errr...a drink of G (got to get that product placement right).

ESPN's camera work and timing on that was awful.
