Jordan Zimmermann makes progress, slowly
Yesterday morning, Jordan Zimmermann stuck to his Monday-Wednesday-Friday throwing scheduled and pitched off of a mound for the second time this spring.
The bullpen session went "a little better than" when he threw Monday, Zimmermann said. Zimmermann threw 10 pitches from the mound's slope and 20 from the rubber, upping his total from Monday by five. On Friday, Zimmermann plans on throwing 10 from the slope an 35 from the rubber.
He's still throwing only at about 50 percent, and that won't change for about a month, Zimmermann said. The plan is to keep ratcheting the number of pitches, but not the intensity.
"I'm not throwing that hard yet," Zimmermann said. "So it's hard to tell how my arm is going to bounce back."
