New arrest in steroids case (updated)

3:15 pm: Here is staff writer Amy Shipley's report on the steroids bust.

Original post: There's been another arrest near Tampa with connections to the steroid case that made mention of the Nationals and Capitals last year. From the (Lakeland) Ledger:

Polk sheriff's detectives and federal agents today arrested a Virginia chiropractor with ties to the Washington Capitals hockey team and the Washington Nationals baseball team on charges he involving distributing steroids.
Dr. Douglas Owen Nagel, 50, of Reston, Va., is charged with one count of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and seven counts of solicitation to deliver a controlled substance, according to the PCSO.
Nagel is listed a chiropractic consultant to both the Capitals and the Nationals on a list of doctors speaking at a January 2009 event called the Annual Baseball Team Medicine Conference.

Ho hum. Not interested. Soooo, 2006.

(although I'm pretty sure this was not linked to the Nook Logan case. There is no way that skinny kid was using HGH. He wasn't even eating biscuits)

There is no evidence that HGH helps athletic performance. I always use Nook Logan as a great example of this.

I think McGuire once looked like Nook Logan. Without the roids Logan must have looked like Manute Bol.

And you, of all people, should know when it comes to matters biscuitorial. ;-)

I wonder which Capitals there would be since all the Nats have been tested.

According to the article:

Nagel sent a total of seven packages of money to Thomas through FedEx, and federal agents in Philadelphia intercepted a package of steoids bound for Thomas on May 21, 2009, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

So it actually isn't steroids, it is STEOIDS!!!!!!!

Who spell checks for these guys????????

Besides the rumors about Nats, it reads WASHINGTON CAPITALS NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE:

When he was interviewed by investigators, Richard Thomas claimed that he sold steroids to professional athletes, including members the Washington Capitals National Hockey League team, arrest reports state.

Nate Ewell, a spokesperson for the Capitals, said in November that the league investigated Thomas' claims and none of the team's players was found to have used steroids.

"We never found any link," Ewell said.

The Nook comments remind me of the best line I heard after the release of the Mitchell Report.
"With all the mention of Baltimore Oriole players in this report, can we please stop referring to these things as *performance enhancing* drugs?"

Maybe it was Screech who has been using HGH? You have to admit he is one big dumb looking Eagle. Rizzo should send him to the the instructional league (aka Fat Camp)where they were hiding Demetri Young for two years. Better yet, DFA him.

hansenjo, you missed it, Screech is a teenage Eagle now. He's lanky and has attitude, because he sometimes wears his hat backwards.
