RE: previous post.

I'm almost betting that Derek Norris is being sent down to make sure that he gets plenty of work at catcher. It's beginning to look like Flores may not be the future and the Nats will need to develop a first stringer for 2012. Pudge is fine for '10 and '11 with adequate backup, but we do need a youngster for the future. This is the toughest position on the field and requires the most experience.

70% of the game may be pitching, but 1/2 of that is the catcher. Since pitchers only go 1 game out of five, Yogi's logic proves that the catcher is 175% (5 x 35%) of a team's performance.

What about Storen, who was bumped yesterday? Wasn't he supposed to go today?

The next post addresses this by saying that, given the work he had in the bullpen, they wanted to give him an extra day to recharge.
In looking at the pitchers that are scheduled to pitch, I would suggest that the bulk of these need to be examined closer, so as to make a decision on them. Storen, OTOH, seems like a known quantity.

Storen goes tomorrow because he warmed up yesterday.

Don't look too good for baseball in viera today. Where does one go to find a drink in these parts.

Jamie Burke and Jhonathan Solano will likely be catching in Syracuse. Solano is good defensively but his offense wasn't last year in SYR. Maybe a couple of "International" catcher signings by Stan Kasten would help. There are a couple of good
Cuban catchers.
