Lineups on a busy morning

Soon, I'll have fully detailed posts on the many happenings this morning:

  • The Nationals optioned Garrett Mock to Class AAA Syracuse in order to make room for Livan Hernandez. Scott Olsen will start Thursday in Philadelphia.
  • The Nationals placed Mike Morse on the disabled list and called up outfielder Roger Bernadina from Syracuse.
  • Ryam Zimmerman will sit out today and tomorrow and most likely return Wednesday, after an off day Tuesday.

For now, the lineups:

Glad to see Olsen will get his shot. He had a better spring than Mock and earned his way into the rotation.

A couple of "blind squirrel" spots in todays' lineup (Taveras & Nieves), but that can't be avoided against Santana, imo.

Our defense must improve immediately. The errors will improve as Desmond grows. But we absolutely MUST get more leather on the balls in play; range issue. Must keep working on this. Better communication will improve the anticipation hence the placement before contact.

And memo to pitching staff:
If you are going to pitch to contact, the Walks MUST decrease. You can not have it both ways.
