Today's lineups

The Nationals have a few different touches to their lineup today. Wil Nieves will catch Livan Hernandez, which is odd because Manager Jim Riggleman has made note of the productive union between Hernandez and Ivan Rodriguez. Also, Willie Harris take left for Josh Willingham, which is likely a way to get another left-handed bat in against Ubaldo Jimenez, one of the toughest righties in the game. And Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn have flipped in the 3 and 4 spots.

1. Nyjer Morgan, CF
2. Adam Kennedy, 2B
3. Adam Dunn, 1B
4. Ryan Zimmerman, 3B
5. Willie Harris, LF
6. Ian Desmond, SS
7. Roger Bernadina, RF
8. Wil Nieves, C
9. Livan Hernandez, SP

1. Carlos Gonzalez, CF
2. Seth Smith, LF
3. Brad Hawpe, RF
4. Troy Tulowitzki, SS
5. Todd Helton, 1B
6. Miguel Olivo, C
7. Ian Stewart, 3B
8. Clint Barmes, 2B
9. Ubaldo Jimenez, SP

In some other news, the Nationals hired Angela T. Gordon and added her to the team's physical therapy staff. Gordon will provide outpatient physical therapy during this season and evaluate players before next spring training. Gordon's key role will be overseeing and identifying players at risk for chronic injury and developing programs for at-risk players. Gordon is the clinic director and outpatient orthopedist rehabilitation specialist at Patriot Sportsmedicine in Alexandria, Virginia.

Here in Denver, it has started to pour. The tarp is on at Coors Field. If I was you, I wouldn't plan my night around watching the Nationals game on television.

Comments has a poll of the best defensive 3rd basemen, which includes Zimm, A-Rod, Wright, Inge and Rolen. So far, Zimm is leading with 23% of the vote, but thought people may want to add their votes.

Why is Willingham not starting? He was rested several nights ago.

I don't get Willingham not starting either. Match-up shouldn't matter as much here.. especially with Pudge sitting out, which I understand.

Willingham has bad numbers against Jimenez, I believe. We'll have more time to ponder this, though, because, according to the Denver Post website (this is known as a hint WaPO), tonight's game is rained out with a doubleheader tomorrow.

FWIW, Willingham: .200 BA against Jimenez.

Willie Harris, 5-8 with two walks against Jimenez.

Bernadina's never faced him, but he's hitting .294 against righties this year.

Game is cancelled. Play ball at 12:20 tomorrow. Was at the game last night. What a mess. I thought it was the umpires to cancel B4 the game is official then a home team decision. Why weren't the Rockies screaming to end it either way? Because they thought they could come back...that is until we laid a 7-pack on 'em. And what the hell was MLB thinking when they scheduled the Nats in Denver in May and in Arizona in August...DUMB

Yay! That means I'll actually get to watch both games live. :-)
