Guest post: Stat prediction winner II

Gloria MacKenzie, one of the two winners from our "Predict Strasburg's Debut Line" contest, has sent us her guest post ... and here it is:

I became a Washington Senators fan as a young girl, driving in a carpool in the late '50s and early '60s with four male baseball fanatics. I could tell you the daily batting average, etc., of every Senators player.

Through the years, I have continued to follow our hometown team. When the Nationals came to town, I started keeping track of them as well. They've had a tough start but when I heard about Stephen Strasburg coming here I hoped this would be the spark we needed.

Well, he has added more than a spark -- what a great talent! I've been to one game this year, before he was brought up. We won that one and Adam Dunn hit two home runs.

We have a number of good players on the team but they have been overlooked until Strasburg got here. Stephen has opened everyone's eyes to see the talent we have on the field. If Zimmerman, Willingham and Dunn continue their good hitting we'll all have a good year.

I'm not a baseball "brain," and don't try to analyze the past or predict the future -- just a happy Nationals fan who wants to be able to cheer our team on with more and more wins and success.

And it is about time -- for the team, for the fans, and for our town. Yea Nationals!

Nice post at a discouraging time for Nats fans.

As one who followed the Senators, you know adversity, and are so right that "it is about time" that we had more wins and more success to cheer for.

Hang in.

I wasn't in the area for earlier Washington baseball teams, but I appreciate the post. I do plan to hang in there as well. :-)

(And assuming that Gloria is a regular reader here, she already knows to consider the source of any rude comments that might come her way as a result of this post, so I won't say a thing about it. Oops.)
