Jamie Burke designated for assignment

In order to make room for Ivan Rodriguez, the Nationals designated catcher Jamie Burke for assignment. Burke had replaced Carlos Maldonado, who broke his finger while serving as Wil Nieves's backup as Rodriguez spent time on the disabled list.

The Nationals acquired Burke last season. He missed the first two months of this season with a torn meniscus, which he incurred during spring training.

Best of luck to Jamie Burke - If he doesn't get claimed, I'm reasonably sure he still has a spot in SYR, if he wants it.

Agreed. He got a cup of coffee and will fill in while maldonado rehabs his way back. Best of luck Burke!
