Sunday's lineups

None of the regulars in the Nationals lineup get the day off today. Starter Craig Stammen looks to help Washington claim the series from Cincinnati and climb out of the recent rut in which the Nationals have been stuck. They've lost six of their last eight games and stand three games under .500.

Reds:

Cabrera -- SS
Cairo -- 3B
Votto -- 1B
Phillips -- 2B
Bruce -- RF
Nix -- LF
Stubbs -- CF
Miller -- C
Arroyo -- P

Nationals:

Guzman -- 2B
Morgan -- CF
Zimmerman -- 3B
Dunn -- 1B
Willingham -- LF
Bernadina -- RF
Desmond -- SS
Nieves -- C
Stammen -- P

Stammen better be ready for the first inning for a change. If his sinker is better after he's really warmed up, take a jog around the field -- it's hot out there, so maybe that'll help!

I'll pass on today. GIven up watching when Stammen pitches.
Couple a thoughts till next time:

1. Can the coaches please work With Zimmerman on throwing overhand from third. His sidearm tosses are becoming a real problem. Yesterday's throw was ridiculous. And usually 3 or 4 times a game he pulls Dunn off the bag and makes him make a tag.
3. Hope Stammen gets sent down to make room for Stras. Keep Ati and Martin. Martin can go to pen when Olsen comes up. Maybe send down Walker then.
Send down Stammen now.
4. Move Dunn down in the lineup. He's killin the team with men on base.
5. Get rid of Nieves.

That's all for now.
Have a good one. See you at the Paak Tuesday night.

Stammen shouldn't be able to save his rotation spot no matter what he does today. Although the shutting down of Miguel Cairo and Corky Miller WOULD be impressive.

Guessing we'll see at least one rain delay... Weather.com is calling for a 90% chance of T-Storm at 3pm, then a break at 4PM, followed by T-Storms the rest of the night. Hopefully we can get 9 in without much interruption.

Stammen stinks.

We'll see what happens Monday for the roster move w/Strasburg; Statistically, it should be Stammen going down, but from a rotation standpoint, it's Martin holding the short straw.

Meanwhile, the list of injured catchers in the system just keeps growing - First Flores, then Coste & Burke in Viera, then Pudge & now Maldonado. Add both Norris & Brian Peacock going down after getting beaned in POT, and Wheeden getting hurt a week after joining the team. That's eight catchers down in less than 1/3 of the season; Suddenly being a catcher in the WSH orginization should make one a little nervious.

I will note that both Burke & Norris are back on active rosters, and Coste was released to promote Burke.

A complete game shutout would certainly raise Stammen's stock, but I'd settle for him getting through the first unscathed.

BinM,
I was thinking the same thing. Based on the facts, I am in favor of listing Harper as an OF right off the bat instead of a Catcher!
