Justin Maxwell scratched in Syracuse

Outfielder Justin Maxwell is a late scratch tonight for Class AAA Syracuse, according to a source in Syracuse. This could mean a few different things. As soon as more details are available, we'll pass them along.

JMax for Cliff Lee straight up. You heard it here first, Natstown!

Willingham traded, Maxwell on his way to DC for tomorrow's game? Say it ain't so.

Okay, I liked Soren's response a lot better than yours, 222!

He has to pose for a bronze statue they're erecting outside Shipley Field.

He's been selected to drive the bus to the All-Star game in Allentown, and he needs to renew his bus license.

Hammer is out of tonight's line-up. Hope that doesn't mean he's been traded but I have a bad feeling...

Bob Carpenter is restaging the walk-off grand slam that ended the 2009 season. He wanted a do-over after his crappy HR call.

If Willingham is gone I will just be sick.

Atilano optioned to AAA. Maybe Maxwell is headed up here? (Not that this makes me happy). Still could mean a Hammer trade. :(

Excellent, JohninMpls!

And Sec222, good job the the other night!

Naturally I share the puzzlement and disgust with tonight's lineup. As Dovelevine says, no need to rest players now, with All-Star break coming up. And yet, there is one player who most of us would like to see take a "well-deserved" break-Nyjer--who Rigs trots out there every day. Is he afraid to see what Bernadina can do playing CF three games in a row?

Go wash your mouth out. He's the only outfielder we have. Can you imagine how useless the outfield would look if he was gone?

Looks like Atilano was sent down to work on his curveball.

This could be the final appearances of JMax in a real Nationals uniform. He's out of options, hasn't hit steadily enough to earn a prolonged stay in the bigs, yet has the tools to be a very good defensive outfielder (Langerhans with speed to burn).

BinM: can't we bring Max up and send him down all year and it still counts as one option? Don't understand resting Hammer but it worked.

go Nats
