Hope it's Morse at 1B and Bernie in RF.

Cue "Who's on first" jokes now.

Who do we eject, Riggleman or the Post, for throwing out such a wack lineup as that?

Posted by: FeelWood | August 19, 2010 10:40 AM | Report abuse

There's going to be a lot of errors with that line-up, especially on infield throws.

Posted by: deMille_Ondefloss | August 19, 2010 10:43 AM | Report abuse

Well, Zuckerman has thrown up a lineup with Morse at first, Bernadina in left and Harris in right. So I guess it's the Post that's wrong. Why am I not surprised?

Posted by: FeelWood | August 19, 2010 10:43 AM | Report abuse

I am guessing that Morse is at 1B today for Dunn.

We read that Harper's $9.9 million dollar deal included a $6.25M bonus, spread over 5 seasons, so the outlay in 2010 is only $1.25M.

Has anyone seen the details posted for the Solis, Cole, and Ray signings?

There are two LF's and no first baseman.

You can tell poor Kilgore hasn't gotten much sleep lately. I'd like to know what kind of schedule he must keep. With the travel, the interviews, writing NJ and dead tree deadline pressure it must be pretty hectic. Adam, are you awake? Why don't you do a Monday Morning Brushback on how you get through the day, especially on the road?

Posted by: Natmeister | August 19, 2010 11:06 AM | Report abuse

Whoops, jsut noticed Adam didn't post the lineup, guees he is getting some sleep. At any rate, tell us how you manage all of this.

comish: That was all bonus money for Solis, Cole & Ray; They all signed deals that did not include a spot on the 40-man.

Pretty interesting. Harris and Bernadina in left field. No 1st base. Hmmm....new brand of baseball?

I wonder if the Braves offered the prospects that they traded for Lee to the Nats for Dunn?

Posted by: rufus_t_firefly | August 19, 2010 11:19 AM | Report abuse

Career numbers v. Lowe
Nyjer 10 for 19
Desmond 4 for 6 with two homers, a double and a triple.
Hopefully the top of the order boys will do some damage today.

Maybe Riggleman thinks that with Lannan pitching today, there's no need to have anybody covering first base...

Posted by: CapsNut | August 19, 2010 11:34 AM | Report abuse

Hmmm ... with no outs possible at First, the Braves are gonna score a LOT of runs......

Rover!

Posted by: Kev29 | August 19, 2010 11:57 AM | Report abuse

So, we have two LF's tonight and no first baseman? Who's on first?

Posted by: tab21 | August 19, 2010 12:01 PM | Report abuse

Alexa, surely you have played some kind of baseball (or seen a game) or softball at some level to realize that the lineup posted is sort of wackey. Please fix it. My guess is Willie-LF, Bernadinz, RF, and Morse at 1st. I think Ramos will provide some pop today and help the NATS avoid the sweep.

Can I assume Ramos spent some time catching Lannan in the bullpen yesterday?

Posted by: gilbertbp | August 19, 2010 12:28 PM | Report abuse

'Bout time. This guy's a stud. Get rid of I-Roid. Somebody should sit Bernadina down for such a dumb play getting caught rounding 1st. I hate those Atlanta Choking Dogs but if you notice they play Professional baseball. Not Little league. They know how to cut throws and play heads up baseball. The way the Nats play is due to their manager. Hopefully Riggleman will get fired after this season and the Nats can get a real manager not an apologist, excuse maker and a pat on the back guy. Bid deal he got thrown out. He should leave the stadium for good.

I want to second the call for a Morning Brushback in which Adam gives the readers a look into the schedule of a beat reader. I say this without knowing him, but I imagine most people would consider that a little self-indulgent (look at how hard I work!) if you did it on your own, but just know that there is significant interest in it here. My feeling is that it seems like a dream job until you actually have to do it. Funny how a lot of jobs are that way.

Svrluga did this kind of thing all the time, by the way.

Posted by: JohninMpls | August 19, 2010 12:53 PM | Report abuse

You know how departing Presidents leave a note of advice for their successor in the Oval Office desk drawer on Inauguration Day? Well, Post beat writers do the same thing. Here's the note Chico Harlan left for Adam:

"Talking about how you go about your job when there are people around who can quote you - BAD IDEA."

Morse!

Posted by: NATurallyYours | August 19, 2010 1:25 PM | Report abuse

I'm late to the game. Who did we get thrown out so far?
