We actually going to get the game in tonight? Imagine they'd play through about anything since it's the last week of the season.

I don't know if they can play through the mess of rain that's coming. Probably wiser to call it early and plan for a day/night double header tomorrow. Supposed to clear up around midday.

From the FWIW Department, Jon Heyman's latest gossip:

"While Adam Dunn has said he has hope he will re-sign with the Nationals, some see Washington not paying his price since it is focused on good defense. "He should be in the American League,'' one scout said of the career-long National Leaguer. The White Sox like him (they tried hard to land him at the deadline), but the Yankees could be a dark-horse candidate to sign him."

It will be interesting to see what kind of offers, if any, Dunn gets from big money teams like the White Sox and Yankees, both in terms of money and length of contract.

To all season ticket holders: You should have an email from the Nationals organization asking you to take a survey. It takes about 10 minutes to fill out, and team performance is one of the things they ask about. So now is your chance to let them know (for good or ill) what you think. Fill that puppy out!

@baltova1,

In the end the only place he will get to start, play, improve and prove his worth in the field at first base is with the "Natinals".

He has to know if he goes to the Yankees he will almost certainly be a DH on the depth chart at first base behind almost National Mark Texiera.

Posted by: periculum | September 27, 2010 4:26 PM | Report abuse

Questions 23 & 24 from the survey are interesting. (My answers in parentheses)

23 What is the one word or phrase you would use to describe the Washington Nationals team? (Woeful)

24 * What is the one word or phrase you would use to describe the Washington Nationals organization? (Inept--- especially on the business side of the house)

Imagine that line-up tonight without Dunn. Pretty good defense! No offense, but you can attract plenty of good pitchers here without offering them any runs.

The East is ours, Nots fans. I look forward to seeing all (15) of you at the park tonight LMAO!!!

I gotta admit the Nats called and asked me if I had any thoughts on this season, thanked me for being a season ticket holder, then asked me if I had any thoughts for next season. I totall choked. But if I had been able to find my tongue I'd have told the charming young lady "Don't recruit busloads of Phillies fans and sign Dunn."

Posted by: markfromark | September 27, 2010 5:02 PM | Report abuse

If you're going to play Flushy McPunknuggets in CF at least have the decency to bat him 8th.

Posted by: TheJoeGreene | September 27, 2010 5:07 PM | Report abuse

If the Nats fans don't want Phillies fans to be in their stadium, then they need to demand an ownership that will deliver to them a team with which to surround Ryan Zimmerman.

Until then, better get used to the invasion from I-95 North.

Yes, the East is yours Phillies fans and, as usual, the only way you seem to be able to enjoy your success is by crapping (or vomiting) on someone else.

But but but, the O's always have to rely on Yankee fans invading to prop up their attendance numbers. Wah Wah Wah

Of course if someone brings up how the Phillies fans invade Natinal park like swarms of locusts all that's heard on here is crickets.

"all that's heard on here is crickets."

Or Philly fans whiffing the McPoop diaper genie odor.

Looks like we be getting frustrated Redskins fans here now ..

The line up as it stands it a left/right-left-right-left-right-left-right-right. Riggleman likes those alternating batters. Desmond bats third mostly because he has been here longest ... and Espinosa used to lead off quite a bit in AA. Morgan's numbers are down in the lead off spot. He seems to be more effective batting second in Guzzie's old slot ... since Zimmerman is likely out for the season.

man someone sure seems hung up on poopy-diapers. What an odd fetish.

Actually the correct code is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select Start.

Interesting little factoid, with the two starting pitchers also having started on Opening Day 2010:

Four out of nine of the Nats in today's lineup played on Opening Day.

EIGHT out of nine of the Phillies in today's lineup played on Opening Day.

Dunno whether to cry or just pour myself another strong drink.

Posted by: Juan-John1 | September 27, 2010 5:36 PM | Report abuse

And the one who isn't starting probably would have started tonight, but he's coming off an injury and doesn't want to be playing in the muck tonight.

Hey Poop (if that's your real name)

Nationals outdrew the Orioles this year.

Posted by: stantonpark | September 27, 2010 5:43 PM | Report abuse

The Nats appear to be playing their top offensive lineup bar none? Zimmerman is injured. Maxwell is hitting .140 (yep he was there if not on opening day pretty soon after), Harris is hitting .186 this year, Kennedy didn't start Guzman, who is gone did, unfortunately. Pudge is alternating with top catching prospect Wilson Ramos. I'm sure Nieves and his .190 average would be happy to play ...

The only guy sitting who is half way decent is Kennedy. Lord knows I would try Espinosa at third. He seems like he could play anywhere on the infield and get Kennedy's bat in the lineup. But hey Double Switch only does that with decaying, decrepit veterans like Harris and Guzman or even an Orr.

O's are watched by more people in the VA-DC-MD area.

Sorry periculum but none of my posts make reference to fecal-matter. Unlike the majority of your posts that seem to mention excrement.

But hey, there are websites that cater to your fetish and I'm sure you're a huge fan of the 2 girls 1 cup video.

@Juan-John: Just pour yourself another drink. Here's another little factoid for you...

PHI lineup salary (9/27/10) = $79.8M
WSH lineup salary (9/27/10) = $14.99M

Now you can start crying.

Please stop feeding the troll. It's gone beyond stupid and moved on to rude and ugly. Given the team we're dealing with here, this blog is well worth reading, but not with this stuff going on.

Just stop.

Your post of 5:50 is one of the most ridiculous, immature & foolish posts I've seen here in a while. If you want to go toe-to-toe with McP on insult hurling, take it somewhere else. Most of us who come to a blog like this don't want to read this kind of garbage.

End rant.

We totally have the better management. Phils are paying 5 times as much to win less than twice as many games.
