Tyler Moore, Tom Milone win Nationals minor league award
The Nationals have named Class A Potomac first baseman Tyler Moore their minor league player of the year and Class AA left-hander Tom Milone their pitcher of the year.
Moore, the Carolina League MVP, hit .269 with 43 doubles, 31 home runs, a team-record 111 RBI an 78 runs in 129 games. Moore, 23, built his season on an unreal streak that won him four league player of the week awards in six weeks.
Milone, a 10th-round pick in 2008, went 12-5 with a 2.85 ERA. He rang up 155 strikeouts -- more than any Nationals pitcher at any level -- with only 23 walks in 158 innings. Milone allowed two or fewer earned runs in 19 of 27 starts and allowed more than three earned runs in only four starts.
