Willie Harris 'OK' after leaving game

Right fielder Willie Harris left the Nationals' 13-3 win over the Mets in the bottom of the second inning after crashing into outfield fence. In the evening, Harris said over the phone that he was "OK."

During the game, a team spokesman said Harris left the game for precautionary reasons. Manager Jim Riggleman said after the game Harris will be checked Tuesday and may have suffered a mild concussion.

Harris, chasing what would be a double by Chris Carter, smashed headfirst into the fence. Harris stood, then dropped to a knee and waited for Riggleman and head athletic trainer Lee Kuntz to come check on him.

"He was pretty dizzy," Manager Jim Riggleman said. "He didn't feel too good out there. That was pretty obvious in talking to him."

Now, it were Nyger, we'd be ripping him for not making the catch -- dargreg

just kidding

and some day, I'll get "Nyjer'' right.

It really did look like his head took quite a hit---hope he's OK.

Sorry, guys! My bad. I actually like Willie Harris as much as dargregmag likes Nyjer Morgan. Was trying--ineptly--to point out that Willie Harris is tougher than nails.

Soren - FWIW, I read your comment exactly that way - as a riff on the "Willie Harris is so tough..." meme.

Willie Harris is so tough, when he hits the scoreboard, the scoreboard gets a concussion.

Ryan Zimmerman uses home run balls to knock out scoreboard lights. Willie Harris uses his head.

Remember the battering ram scenes in "Lord of the Rings?" That was Willie Harris.

Seriously, quick recovery, Willie.

@gilbertbp:

"Willie Harris" = "Grond"

Love it!

Ah, got it, Soren, in that context well-put!
My bad for the misinterpretation.
