Nationals release Tyler Walker

By Adam Kilgore

The Nationals have unconditionally released right-hander reliever Tyler Walker, a veteran who is currently rehabbing from major shoulder surgery. Walker, 34, had a 3.57 ERA this season with 30 strikeouts in 35 innings. Many bullpen teammates, particularly rookie Drew Storen, expressed gratitude for Walker's willingness to offer advice and his generally positive demeanor.

Walker last pitched June 19, one appearance after he began feeling pain in his right shoulder. Walker went on the disabled list and, upon further diagnosis, realized he needed surgery to repair a torn labrum. After more than six months of rehab, Walker could be ready to pitch by spring training. This summer, he also acknowledged retirement could be an option.

I was excited when we signed him, thought he'd be a big arm for us. Wish him well wherever he lands, evn if it is at home watching games next year.

Sounds like a coach in the making. Good luck, TW.

First, Kennedy. Then, Walker. There's a bit of trepidation every time I pop open the NJ. I fear this phrase may soon appear....

"Nats Let Pete Orr Leave".

FWIW, Ladson's latest mailbag is up and running. I dont understand why the mailbag wasnt posted on Halloween, because its a real treat!
