Colts to Sit Freeney, Five Other Defensive Starters

The Indianapolis Colts plan to withhold six defensive starters, including end Dwight Freeney, from their preseason opener Thursday night at St. Louis.

Freeney has been plagued by a sore shoulder. The Colts also plan to keep defensive tackles Corey Simon and Montae Reagor, cornerback Jason David and safeties Mike Doss and Bob Sanders on the shelf because of nagging injuries.
