Eagles, Bears, Niners, Titans Also Were Lelie Bidders
According to an NFL source, the other bidders for Denver Broncos wide receiver Ashley Lelie--traded Tuesday to the Atlanta Falcons in a three-way deal involving the Washington Redskins, who got Atlanta tailback T.J. Duckett--were the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans.
It was thought in recent weeks that other teams were offering a fourth-round draft pick for Lelie while the Broncos wanted at least a second-round choice. They ended up getting a pick or picks from the Redskins that will depend on the two clubs' records this season. The two teams could end up exchanging first-round selections next spring and, depending on the clubs' draft spots, the Broncos also could get a third-round pick next year or a fourth-round choice in 2008. If there's no exchange of first-rounders next year, the Broncos would end up with a third-rounder next spring and a fourth-rounder in 2008 from the Redskins, the source said.
