J. George Resurfaces in Oakland

Jeff George?

JEFF GEORGE?

Those words undoubtedly were repeated in front offices around the league Monday after the Oakland Raiders signed the journeyman quarterback with the golden arm but team-wrecking reputation.

George last threw a regular-season pass in the NFL in 2001 for the Washington Redskins but has had stints with the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears since then.

He previously played for the Raiders in 1997 and '98.

It's unclear what role, if any, the 38-year-old George will have in Oakland this time around. He joins Aaron Brooks, Andrew Walter and Marques Tuiasosopo on the Raiders' depth chart at quarterback. Walter, who is slated to be Brooks's top backup, has had some shoulder soreness recently.

They prob would have been better off bringing back Kerry Collins. Same deal, immobile guys, strong arms, pretty deep ball.

He was such a "team" player ... he should get hooked up with T.O.

That would be fun to watch for weeks on end
