Receiver-Needy Broncos Claim R. Woods off Waivers

The Denver Broncos became the latest NFL team to take a chance on wide receiver Rashaun Woods when they claimed the former first-round draft choice off waivers Wednesday.

Woods was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2004, then traded to the San Diego Chargers after two unproductive seasons. The Chargers released him.

The Broncos need help at wide receiver behind starters Rod Smith and Javon Walker, with Ashley Lelie holding out from training camp. Lelie doesn't want to be demoted to being the No. 3 receiver, and the Broncos are shopping him in trade talks. They apparently are seeking at least a second-round draft pick in return.

If Denver is so in need of a receiver and not looking at Champ, why isn't Champ threatening to walk since he thought he was a potent WR option (when he was with the Skins). Though he turned out that he had hands of stone.
