T.O. Back On Shelf

Wide receiver Terrell Owens was not scheduled to participate in the Dallas Cowboys' practice this afternoon. He told reporters in Irving, Tex., that he aggravated his ailing left hamstring muscle when he practiced last week.

Owens has not played in either of the Cowboys' two preseason games and probably will miss Saturday's exhibition contest against the San Francisco 49ers.

"It's frustrating but it's not where I need it to be to play and perform like I need to," Owens said, according to the Associated Press. "So at this point I'm going to be smart about it."

Owens participated in five practices last week at the Cowboys' training camp in Oxnard, Calif., after missing 14 straight practices because of his sore hamstring. He indicated today that he underwent a second MRI exam this week and it revealed no serious damage.
