Upshaw Dismisses Gumbel Remarks

NFL Players Association chief Gene Upshaw says he won't be drawn into a public dispute with broadcaster Bryant Gumbel.

Upshaw was asked for his reaction to Gumbel's highly critical comments last week on his HBO show.

Said Upshaw: "I am not willing to discuss the irresponsible comments of Bryant Gumbel. I will not sink to the lowest element of the media by even responding."
