Whitner Signing Leaves Only Two First-Rounders Still Negotiating
Only two first-round draft picks league-wide were left still unsigned when safety Donte Whitner signed with the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. He was the draft's eighth overall selection in April.
Whitner joined the Bills on Saturday. The team had today off. He's scheduled to practice Monday. The Bills had hoped for him to be ready to be a starter when the regular season opens, but now he's playing catch-up after missing 14 practices.
Whitner's signing by the Bills left only Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart (the 10th overall choice) and Miami Dolphins safety Jason Allen (16th) still unsigned.
