Chiefs Non-Committal About Potential Return by Welbourn
Kansas City Chiefs officials are not saying whether they will allow veteran offensive tackle John Welbourn to return to the team once his suspension ends.
Welbourn retired during the offseason but applied for reinstatement and was suspended by the league Wednesday, reportedly for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. It was Welbourn's second such suspension. He was suspended for the first four games of last season.
He remains under contract to the Chiefs and would be eligible to return on Oct. 23.
