Colts Could Start Rookie Safety from Howard In Manning Bowl
Antoine Bethea, a rookie safety for the Indianapolis Colts out of Howard University, could be a starter in his first NFL game Sunday night against the New York Giants in Giants Stadium.
The Colts' plan is to start Bethea, a sixth-round draft choice in April, at the safety spot alongside Bob Sanders if Mike Doss is not fully recovered from a calf injury. Doss has been practicing this week but it's not clear if he'll be ready to play Sunday in the highly anticipated matchup between brothers Peyton and Eli Manning, the two teams' starting quarterbacks.
