Seahawks Ready to Add Branch to Lineup, Must Replace Injured Womack at Guard

The Seattle Seahawks plan to add wide receiver Deion Branch to their roster this week and play him this weekend against the New York Giants.

The Seahawks got a two-week roster exemption for Branch after obtaining him in a trade with the New England Patriots last week and didn't add him to the roster last weekend.

The club also plans to insert second-year pro Chris Spencer, a first-round draft choice last year as a center, into the starting lineup at guard this week to replace the injured Floyd (Pork Chop) Womack.

Womack could be sidelined as long as six weeks with a knee injury. He had taken over as the starting left guard for departed Pro Bowler Steve Hutchinson.
