Titans, Chargers Agree to Volek Trade
The Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers have agreed to a trade that sends quarterback Billy Volek to San Diego for a draft pick.
Volek began training camp as the Titans' starter but was dropped to third-string, behind Kerry Collins and rookie Vince Young, after Tennessee signed Collins shortly before the season. Volek sought to be traded and the Titans began shopping him. The Chargers, needing an experienced backup for Philip Rivers, were interested but the Titans didn't want to send Volek to San Diego before the two teams played last weekend.
Rivers had been backed up by rookie Charlie Whitehurst.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders also were thought to be in the running for Volek in recent days.

Well, it looks like KC and Oakland are in for a free fall this year. They need Volek (i.e. a good quarterback) badly and they didn't get him. I feel sorry for their fans.

The Skins couldn't get this guy? Let's see Brunell is either hurt or an unworthy NFL starter, Collins should never be a regular starter, and Campbell is not ready yet. For a team whose leader said anything less than a championship would be a disappointment, (at least a very close to true statement), wouldn't you want someone else in that QB depth chart? Even if you assumed Brunell was totally heathly and capable of playing like his early '05 self?

The Titans are crazy. They are in free fall and are playing Kerry Collins as the starting QB?!
Volek did nothing but play well for the Titans. I wish Billy well, I am glad he's going to a contender.
