Favre Expects to Play This Weekend
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre said today he has a pinched nerve in his neck and perhaps a mild concussion but he expects to play Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.
Favre was replaced by second-year quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the Packers' final offensive series of their lopsided loss Monday night in Philadelphia. He was hit hard by Eagles defensive end Juqua Thomas on his final throw of the game.
"I got the you-know-what knocked out of me," Favre said during a news conference today.
Favre said his head and neck still were sore but he anticipated being able to practice this week and play this weekend. He has started 225 straight regular season games and 245 in a row including the playoffs. He threw two interceptions Monday and failed in his bid to have a third straight 300-yard passing game, which would have been a career first.
