Cowher Takes Blame
Blame me.
With the defending Super Bowl champions all but out of the AFC playoff race with a record of 2-5 and coming off a loss to the pitiable Oakland Raiders, that was the message delivered Tuesday by Pittsburgh Steelers Coach Bill Cowher.
"Obviously, there's a lot of disappointment to be sitting here at 2-5," Cowher said during his weekly news conference. "I accept full responsibility for that. It starts with me."
The Steelers have been undone by interception-prone quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, by unusually shaky play by their offensive line and by gaffes on special teams.
The club is 1-5 this season with Roethlisberger as the starter.
"Each of us is going to have to do more," Cowher said, "and that starts with me."

i don't think they were the best team in the NFL last year either. They got really, really lucky.

Keep up the great work Ben!!! Won't be long before we can hang out together during games. Maybe even watch a game or two.

As a Giants fan, who heard al the talk about Big Ben being better than Eli in his first year, I feel a little vindicated now.
To be clear; I don't think Eli will ever match or surpass Peyton, BUT He was always better than Roethlisberger. Especially now that he has a decent line.
Roethlisberger will be backing up a rookie in about two years.

When coaches say "blame me," it would be great to see an owner take them at their word and fire them, or cut their pay.
Sometimes coaches do the "blame me" thing as a play to pre-empt an outside source being the first to point the finger at them. Saying "blame me" is kind of like saying, "Don't blame the players (who really deserve it), but blame me even though I don't deserve it." Its kind of disengenious.
Bill, we'll decide who to blame.
I heard Mike and Mike on ESPN radio saying that Cowher is a hall of fame coach. No way. Not every good coach is hall of fame. One Super Bowl and longevity doesn't do it. He'll need to get another one, or hit a few more AFC championships.
