Arrington Scheduled to Testify Before Congressional Subcommittee Thursday
Injured New York Giants linebacker LaVar Arrington is on the tentative witness list for a hearing of a Congressional subcommittee scheduled for Thursday.
The House subcommittee on commercial and administrative law scheduled the hearing to review the NFL Players Association's arbitration system for disciplining agents.
Arrington is represented by Carl Poston, who was suspended by the union for his handling of a contract negotiation in which Arrington charged the Washington Redskins with shortchanging him by $6.5 million. Poston is appealing the suspension but has been granted a series of postponements of his hearing before arbitrator Roger Kaplan.
Arrington bought out the remainder of his contract with the Redskins last offseason to become a free agent and signed with the Giants. He's on the injured reserve list because of a torn Achilles' tendon.
He has remained supportive of Poston during the dispute.
