L. Smith Steadfast in Supporting Grossman
Chicago Bears Coach Lovie Smith is sticking steadfastly by Rex Grossman as the team's starting quarterback.
There's been plenty of clamoring for Smith to turn to backup Brian Griese but Smith has been adamant that Grossman is the club's starter.
Grossman threw three interceptions and had a passer rating of 1.3 in Sunday's triumph over the Minnesota Vikings. His bad games this season have been truly horrible. Of his 17 interceptions, 13 have come in four games.
Smith made a late-season quarterback switch last season while the Bears were winning, going from Kyle Orton to Grossman. But Grossman had begun the preseason as the team's starter before getting hurt. And Grossman this season, unlike Orton last season, has had stretches of solid play.
The Bears have a record of 10-2, have clinched the NFC North and have a two-game lead in the race for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

The Bears could always re-sign Vince Evans...

"The Bears could always re-sign Vince Evans..."
Laugh, Now there is a name I have not for a long time. Vince was never a great passer, but boy, could he run. Maybe Al Davis could coax him out of retirement. Along with George Blanda.
I agree with Lovie sticking with Rex. The division is locked up and they have a great chance to get home-field throughout the playoffs.
Although, it is nice to have a solid backup like Griese to turn to, just in case.

Rex has plenty of time to get his confidence back... and he has a bunch of bad teams to play. Everyone's on Dallas' bandwagon right now, but the Bears smoked the Giants at Giant Stadium and didn't need a last minute field goal to beat them either. Dallas will have an interesting time visiting Soldier Field in January!
