Cowboys' Zimmer Headed to Falcons as Defensive Coordinator
Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has accepted an offer to be the defensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, working for new Falcons coach Bobby Petrino.
Zimmer's contract with the Cowboys was expiring and the late-season struggles of the Dallas defense made it clear that he might be replaced whether Coach Bill Parcells decided to return for another season or not.
Parcells forced Zimmer to coach a three-linemen, four-linebacker alignment with the Cowboys even though Zimmer's expertise is with a 4-3 system.
