Raiders Lose Offensive Coordinator Shoop

The Oakland Raiders lost their offensive coordinator when John Shoop left to take the offensive coordinator job at the University of North Carolina.

It had been thought that Shoop might be a candidate for the Raiders' vacant head coaching job. The Raiders' other coordinator, defensive boss Rob Ryan, interviewed for the job Friday.

The Raiders also have interviewed USC quarterbacks coach Steve Sarkisian and former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel. Owner Al Davis also might interview Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz, the former coach of the St. Louis Rams. The Raiders must interview at least one minority candidate to comply with NFL rules.

Raiders couldn't score and their Off Coord was a candidate for the head coach spot? Further evidence that an intervention by the NFL is needed here.

you don't want the league messing with that kind of stuff, it stifles the competition. nfl isn't supposed to be even all around, some teams just have to suck for awhile.
