Lions' Bly Has Permission to Seek Trade

The Detroit Lions have granted cornerback Dre Bly and his agent, Kennard McGuire, permission to seek a trade.

The former Pro Bowl selection is to count more than $5 million against the Lions' salary cap next season and is ill-suited to the defensive system the team installed last season after hiring Coach Rod Marinelli. Bly is effective in man-to-man coverage but the Lions now play a variation of the Cover 2 zone in the secondary.
