Dolphins Reportedly Trying to Complete Trade for T. Green

The Miami Dolphins reportedly are close to trading a seventh-round draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for veteran quarterback Trent Green.

The Palm Beach Post reported that the final obstacle to the trade being completed is Green agreeing to a new contract that would lower his salary next season from $7.2 million to something close to the minimum.

The Chiefs have been listening to trade offers for Green after re-signing Damon Huard to go with young quarterback Brodie Croyle. In Miami, Green would vie with Daunte Culpepper and Cleo Lemon for playing time.

The other possible complication to the trade is that the Houston Texans, after trading Wednesday for Atlanta Falcons backup Matt Schaub, likely will trade or release quarterback David Carr and it's possible the Dolphins will pursue him.
