Owners Grant Request by Giants, Jets for Waiver of Debt Rules

PHOENIX, Ariz.--The owners approved a request by the New York Giants and New York Jets for a waiver of the league's debt rules to build their planned stadium in the Meadowlands.

The price of the stadium has risen to $1.6 billion, requiring the two teams to carry more debt over a longer period of time than league rules usually allow.
