Steelers Cut J. Porter, V. Haynes to Get Beneath Salary Cap

The Pittsburgh Steelers released three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Porter.

The move keeps the Steelers from having to pay Porter a $1 million roster bonus next week and a $4 million salary for next season.

The club also released reserve tailback Verron Haynes. The maneuvers got the Steelers beneath the $109 million salary cap.
