Chargers Re-Sign M. Turner But Still Could Trade Him

Tailback Michael Turner signed the one-year, $2.35 million contract that the San Diego Chargers had tendered to him in restricted free agency.

Turner has drawn interest from the Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills and other teams, and it's possible that the Chargers will trade him this weekend. Turner signing his tender offer was a necessary precursor to a trade since a club cannot trade a player who's not under contract. A new contract probably would accompany any trade, however, since Turner now is eligible for unrestricted free agency next offseason.

In San Diego, he has served as LaDainian Tomlinson's backup.
