First Surprise: Browns Go With J. Thomas

NEW YORK--The draft's first mild surprise came when the Cleveland Browns used the third choice on Wisconsin left tackle Joe Thomas.

Thomas was regarded as one of the draft's top five players but the Browns passed over Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and Oklahoma tailback Adrian Peterson.
